Immersive technology is technology that dissolves the boundaries between the real world and the virtual world. The term immersive technology is often used for the development of virtual-based technologies. By its very definition of combining the real and virtual worlds, immersive technology is closely related to the metaverse. In its development, the metaverse uses virtual reality to create a highly immersive virtual environment or ecosystem.
Metaverse is one of the technologies recently developed by many tech industries. Metaverse is also predicted to be able to replace many real activities into virtual ones. So far, the metaverse is still not widely developed. So, many tech industries are looking for developers to build metaverse technology considering that there are currently many enthusiasts for the metaverse.
Center of Excellence (CoE) Metaverse UMM, recently known to be establishing a cooperative relationship with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology for the metaverse project. This cooperation is needed to introduce CoE Metaverse UMM outside UMM, so that there will be more people who try and get to know Metaverse UMM.
Saturday (4/4), the UMM Metaverse Team and representatives of the Informatics Study Program held a follow-up meeting regarding the cooperation of the metaverse project with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology via online. In this meeting, both parties discussed the improvement of avatars in the metaverse project. In addition, this meeting also determined the character that could later be chosen by the user so that it could give a real impression.
