Malang, September 22, 2023 – A new history in the world of legal education in Indonesia was achieved by the Faculty of Law, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) with the UMM Informatics Study Program through the launch of MetaVerse Moot Court – Constitutional Court, the first Virtual Legal Laboratory in Indonesia. The event was held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at the Law Faculty Conference Room, Joint Lecture Building (GKB) IV, 7th floor.
The Virtual Law Laboratory, MetaVerse Moot Court – Constitutional Court was inaugurated by the Dean of the Faculty of Law UMM, Mr. Tongat, with his statement and the knock of the hammer he made aimed to inaugurate the launch of the research. The launch was attended by lecturers, students, and special invited guests. This extraordinary innovation is the result of collaboration between the UMM Informatics and Law Study Programs, supported by UMM research and service with UMM Law Laboratory partners.
The head of the research and service team involved in this research project is Mrs. Nur Putri Hidayah, who is a lecturer from the UMM Faculty of Law, and Mr. Galih Wasis Wicaksono, who is a lecturer from the UMM Informatics Study Program. They work together with a number of students who have contributed as members of the research and service team.
The research project, MetaVerse Moot Court – Constitutional Court provides a different trial simulation experience for UMM law students and lecturers. Although it is done virtually, the experience feels so real that students and lecturers can feel the sensation of being in the courtroom without the need to be physically present. This not only makes student’s and lecturers’ time more efficient but also reduces the difficulty of traveling to the actual court location.
The launch of MetaVerse Moot Court – Constitutional Court is a testament to the commitment of the UMM Faculty of Law and UMM Informatics Study program to providing quality and relevant education for their students as well as a positive contribution to the development of the legal world in Indonesia. With this platform, it is hoped that the law and informatics community can better prepare themselves for the challenges they face in the digital world going forward.
