Metaverse lately often appears because the technology is able to bring quite rapid changes in everything. Seeing this, the UMM Informatics Study Program moved quickly to develop this technology in the field of education. One of the things that stands out is the practicum activities in the laboratory. Head of the UMM Informatics Study Program, Ir. Galih W. Wicaksono, M.Cs emphasized, “Our goal in this informatics study program is that Metaverse is used in all faculties at UMM,” he said.
Wednesday morning (19/10) UMM Informatics Study Program introduced Metaverse to the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UMM. There were so many positive responses to the activities of the UMM Informatics study program. The introduction of metaverse technology provides a new experience, Dean of FISIP UMM Prof. Muslimin Machmud, M.Si, Ph.d said. “The presence of the Informatics team at FISIP gave us surprise because something we had never imagined that we could practice here. it turns out that in a very fast time through Informatics the engineering faculty responds quickly and conducts socialization and it is very important for us because the educational process is impossible now not supported by technology.” He explained.
The sophistication of this metaverse will greatly facilitate human activities. Judging from the purpose of creating the metaverse, namely facilitating human activities by creating a virtual world. With the metaverse, all real-world activities can be built and developed in virtual form. Metaverse will provide an opportunity for everyone to realize the world of their dreams.
It is hoped that this metaverse technology in FISIP UMM will be able to have a very good impact. Because many teach social or political problems only with fictitious and theoretical ones without knowing what the original form is. With this technology, it can provide this teaching in a real/real form. So, students will be more absorbed in how it will actually happen with the real form of the problem.
