Sunday (04/06), the digital start-up innovation program event organized by 1000 Start Up Digital at Graha Pancacila Batu on June 3-4, 2023, the tourism sector became the main highlight of the event. Not only was it a meeting place for digital technology startup innovators, but it also highlighted the achievements of several teams from Informatics University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). The teams won prestigious categories, such as “The Most Visible” and “The Most Futuristic”. Interestingly, one of the mentors in the event was the Head of the UMM Informatics Study Program, Galih Wasis Wicaksono.
In the Hack4ID competition, several teams from Informatics UMM managed to attract attention with their innovative solutions in the East Java tourism sector. One of the teams that won the “The Most Visible” category was the Menyou Start-Up team presented by Ogya. With guidance from lecturer Zamah Sari and a mentor from 1000 Start Up Digital, Albiruni Haryo, the Menyou team succeeded in compiling a series of digital platforms for online marketing applications, for booking via QR Code.
In addition, the second team, the DARI team from Informatics UMM, stole the most attention by winning the “The Most Futuristic” category with a digital virtual tour museum solution using virtual reality metaverse to provide an immersive museum tourism experience. This team was presented by Sarla and coached by lecturer Hardianto Wibowo as well as by mentor Danis Kirana.
The Hack4ID event provided a golden opportunity for participants to interact with leading investors and industry representatives. Through this event, UMM Informatics teams and other participants had the opportunity to expand their network and secure funding opportunities that could help them develop the innovative solutions they have created.
With the Hack4ID event coming to an end, hopes are growing that the achievements of UMM Informatics teams in the East Java tourism sector can boost the growth of the sector. The expertise and creativity of UMM Informatics students led by experienced mentors, such as Mr. Galih Wasis Wicaksono, give confidence that they can become agents of change in the technology and tourism industry in the future.
